The Conservationists, started in 2010, is an environmental group at McGill University. Our vision is to pull together a team of people who are passionate (or just curious, intrigued) about the environment and would like to contribute in preserving it. We mainly focus on designing and carrying out conservation projects off campus in local communities in Montreal.
Some of our past events include tree planting, invasive species removal, shoreline cleanup, birdwatching, documentary screening, guest speaker night etc. We are very open to suggestions. If you have visions of any conservation projects, we are more than happy to help make them come true for you. We welcome anyone who is passionate about conserving the environment! You can participate by coming to our meetings and taking part in the planning process, or just by joining us at our events!
We are currently working closely with local environmental groups such as Soverdi and Les Amies de La Montange to bring more awesome events to McGill students.
During this school year, we did a shoreline cleanup, invasive species removal, and tree plantings for the months of September and October. When it became too cold for much outdoor activities, we started planning for winter semester events such as documentary screening, biodome trip, and birdwatching!
